All About Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a popular way to treat acne, wrinkles, and pigmentation. But what are they? How do you know if you need one? And how do they work? We'll answer all your questions about chemical peels below.

It's important to do your research first before you go ahead with any procedure, but here are some things I learned about chemical peels that might help you decide if they're right for you.

Chemical peels can be done to treat a variety of skin conditions, such as acne, sun damage and aging, but they're most commonly used to even out skin tone and smooth out fine lines. If this sounds like you, then a chemical peel might be right for you.

The most common chemical peels are glycolic acid and salicylic acid, but there are a variety of other types that work for different skin types. Chemical peels are to be done by licensed professionals.

The procedure is done in a series of steps. Each medical and spa environment performs chemical peels differently. At Beauty Strike, before a chemical peel is performed, we go through an entire facial regimen starting with a double cleanse, toning of the skin, exfoliation with steam, extractions, a hydrating mask then perform the chemical peel.

A chemical peel is done in about three steps. Before the chemical peel begins the esthetician gives you a personal fan to keep you cool while the process is occurring. The esthetician follows up by applying the chemical peel of your choice to your skin. The process is repeated until the desired level of peeling is achieved. The first step, the esthetician applies the chemical peel to the skin. After the chemical peel is performed, we apply SPF to ensure your skin is protected.

Depending on the chemical peel performed, the skin will peel for a few days after the procedure, but it will eventually heal and reveal a healthier, brighter layer of skin.

Chemical peels are a safe and effective way to treat a variety of skin conditions such as acne, sun damage, hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.  This service can be done by our licensed estheticians here at Beauty Strike.
